Kathmandu, May 2: Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun has stated that the effective implementation of the new constitution be acknowledged as a national common agenda.
Addressing a programe organized to observe Information and Technology Day here on Monday, VP Pun urged one and all to be more committed and dedicated to bring new national statute into effect. “It occurs to me that the pace of implementation of new constitution is sluggish. Widespread complaints have started doing rounds lately on the same. The longer it takes to implement new constitution, bigger the discontent. The concerned sides should duly realize it,” said Pun.
He also urged the government and political parties to be effortful to iron out the differences with the disgruntled political parties through talks and dialogue.
VP Pun also spoke of the need to evenly expand the access of the technology to the remote places. He argued that the country would not make headway for development without the use of technology.
Also speaking on the occasion, Minister for Science and Technology Shivalal Thapa admitted that the expansion of technology was lagging in lack of adequate budget and proper programmers. He shared that the Ministry had started introducing changes in its organizational structural for the development of science and technology.
Chief Secretary Dr Somlal Subedi spoke of the need for plan and programmes at policy level to usher the country towards development through science and technology.
Similarly, Birendra Kumar Mishra, Director General at the Department of Information reaffirmed that the Department was effortful to expand the access of technology to every corner and cranny of the country.
President of CAN Binod Dhakal , Vice-President of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dinesh Shrestha and Vice-President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Rajendra Malla among others univocally pressed for use and promotion of information and technology at policy level.
On the occasion, VP Pun awarded Rastriya Banijya Bank with Best ICT User Award in Public Service and Professional Computer System with Best ICT in Private Sector.
