Kathmandu, April 24: The government has paid tribute to those people killed in the April 25 earthquake by lighting candles at Maitighar Mandala in the Capital on Sunday.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Cooperatives Chitra Bahadur KC, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Home Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation Agni Sapkota and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ananda Prasad Pokharel paid tribute to those killed in the quake by lighting candles.

Chiefs and representatives of various diplomatic missions of various countries in Nepal, security personnel, artists, journalists, industrialists and people from various walks of life also participated in the commemoration.

Candle lighting was also held across the country on Sunday to pay tribute to those killed in the quake that killed nearly 9000 people, injured around 21000 and destroyed hundreds of houses and structures. RSS
