Kathmandu, April 20: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the government policy and programmes, and budget for the upcoming fiscal year would prove a milestone in modernising the agriculture sector.
Placing a foundation stone for a new building of Natural Resource Management College under the University of Agriculture and Forestry at Purunchaur, Kaski Wednesday, he pledged to work with a target of making the country self-reliant on food production within the next two years. Prime Minister Oli further promised to focus the government activities on triggering progressive change, reducing poverty and accelerating the wave of development in the country.
The AFU is to establish the Natural Resource Management College here as its first constituency college. It has the plan of opening a constituency college in the regional-level. The Purunchar folks have already managed 50 ropanis of land on their own to establish the college and handed its ownership to the AFU.
It may be noted that Rs 43 million was collected through the Shreemad Bhagawat Gyuan Mahayagya organised by the Purunchaur locals three years back to manage funds to establish the agricultural college in their locality.
The government too has released Rs 50 million for the same cause in the budget of the current fiscal.
