Kathmandu, March 23: Representatives of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) held a discussion with the office-bearers of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) to take stock the latest situation of Nepali football in an effort end deepening dispute in this sector.
A team comprising AFC’s International Relations Director Sanjeevan Balasingham and its office-bearer Purswottam Kandel had discussion with ANFA’s acting Chairperson Narendra Shrestha on various issues related to football.
In the meet, the AFC team urged the ANFA leadership to hold its general meeting and elect a new leadership. The team has suggested that the new leadership elected through the general assembly would help resolve ANFA dispute and make amendment to its statute for long-term solution.
However, the ANFA office-bearers commented that the annual general meeting could not be held because of the appellate court’s order to that end, stated a press release issued by AFC following the meet.
The dispute grew when three vice-chairpersons and a member of the ANFA Board of Directors were taken action citing their absence in three regular meetings without prior information last year. RSS
