Gorkhabazzar (Gorkha), Aug. 9: Jaundice that had spread among the April-25 earthquake-hit children at Barpak village in the district has come under control, local people said. Barpak was the epicenter of the devastating quake that killed around 9,000 people in the country.

The disease-affected people included school-going children as well.
The District Public Health Office however said that the disease that started last month has yet to come under control completely.
Meanwhile, local people of Lapraki at Gupsidanda affected by the earthquake are suffering from common cold and pneumonia, local people said. The victims mostly include elderly people and children. “Most of the victims include school-going age children,” said a local teacher Dhan Bahadur Gurung, who is also suffering from it.

Assistant Health Worker at local health post Samundra KC said that the health facility receives 60 patients suffering from the disease on a daily basis. He said that the earthquake-hit people are forced to live under tents, which, according to him, cannot protect them from catching cold.
