Kathmandu, Hindu Nepalis will be celebrating Fulpati– the seventh day of the 15-day long Dashain festival today.
Though Fulpati is marked on the seventh day of Dashain festival, it has fallen on the eight day this year according to the lunar calendar.
Traditionally, on this day, banana stalks, jamara, belpatra (leaves of wood apple) and sugarcane sticks tied with red cloth along with Kalashfilled with holy water is brought to Hanumandhoka from Gorkha district on a decorated palanquin.
On this occasion, the Nepal Army organises a parade at Tundikhel that includes gun firing, which is observed by the President and government officials every year.
Nepal Army will be presenting a parade at Tundikhel in the capital today.
All government offices will remain closed for five days from Fulpati to Dwadashi (second day after Tika).
