Kathmandu, Aug. 19: The United Students Organization (USO), an alliance of the student unions in the country, has pressed for the immediate appointment of the Vice-Chancellors in various universities in the country. The VC posts are lying vacant for long.

Stating that various universities in the country were devoid of leadership, the meeting of the USO held at Bagbazar, Kathmandu today morning demanded that the government make necessary arrangement for the same, rising above the petty interests of the party.

The Organization has urged the government to implement the 10-point agreement inked between it and the Ministry of Education on April 19, which attempted to resolve the fee hike issue in the institutional schools following the earthquake, according to spokesperson of the Nepal Students Union (NSU), UP Lamichhane.

Furthermore, citing the price plunge in petro products in the international market, the Organization drew the attention of the government towards adjusting the public transport fare in Nepal accordingly.

The government has been urged to consider the suggestions furnished by the organization in connection to the constitution writing.

Present in the meeting were various student unions’ leaders, including Lamichhane, Ain Mahar of All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU), Ramesh Malla of ANNFSU-Revolutionary among others. RSS
