Saptari, Aug. 19: Agitators have started demonstrating again soon after the curfew enforced from Tuesday evening was lifted this morning at Bhardaha in Saptari district.
The curfew was enforced on Tuesday evening after a person died as police opened fire in a clash between agitators and police personnel during the indefinite general strike called by the United Madhesi Front to protest the delineation of federal provinces.
The agitators have torched a permanent police beat at Bhardaha-1 some time ago in course of demonstration. Similarly, they also set a bike (Sa 4 Pa 7938) on fire and the motorcycle was completely damaged in the incident, said police.
A local Rajeev Raut died in the clash that took place between the agitators and police on Tuesday. The local administration had enforced curfew from 4:00 pm on Tuesday until 5:00 this morning after the incident.
Similarly, agitators have started demonstrating in Rajbiraj, the district headquarters of Saptari. They are chanting different slogans like ‘stop police suppression’.
Meanwhile, the ambulance drivers in Saptari have demanded that the administration ensure their safety. Their demand comes at a time after the agitators vandalized seven ambulances during protest demonstrations in two days. RSS
